I have a 25 evinrude outboard and is pretty old, i guess around a 75 or 76, but I want to know what I should see coming out of the exhaust port on the back of the motor. there is no telltale on this motor. I just purchased this motor and It looks like the lower unit has been pulled off before B/c the person who pulled it off stripped the screws and he put a nut on the ends of them, the motor runs great and goes fast. from reading this site how can I know the difference between the exhaust smoke and steam comming from my exhaust port if my pump is failing? there is water coming from the exhaust port and it is pretty warm to the touch. I have no Idea when the pump was last changed. does these pumps gradually go out or do they go out all at once? Also how can I put a temp gauge on this motor and what temp should it be running at? thanks for the help
