just replaced the cables on my 1985 115 evinrude. the throttle arm seems to be sticking. when i go to wot then back to natural the throttle arm doesn't go back to idle. the motor stays reved up about 1/4 throttle. same thing from natural to reverse and back.i can push the arm back to ide like theres slack in the cables.

this was the reason i replaced the cables to begin with. thought the cables had to much slack. what could be the problem with this throttle arm? thanks for any help.

Make sure the cable does'nt have any sharp bends in it. Take the cable loose at the Motor and operate the control lever and see if it's still binding. Put control lever in neutral, remove cable from where it connects to the carb. It should slip freely right on the throttle shaft. If it's off, even a little, you need to adjust it. it can be adjusted via the trunion nut, to lengthen or shorten the cable, so that it will slip right on the Shaft.
