Hi again,<br />The tilt unit on my 84 Evinrude 70 makes loud clicking noises when it moves up or down, although only when tilting with main piston. when Trimming in lower half, it doesnt make the sound. Any suggestions?<br />thanks
OK,<br />so I'll get the manual ASAP. Any suggestions in the mean-time? Can it be done without taking the clamp/engine off the transom? What type of fluid?<br />thanks
Most use Automatic transmission fluid Mine is Dextron. It could be worse eg if it made no noise at all. It does sound like air in the system but getting a manual would be a good start.<br />Good luck
Those sounds could also be the beginning of a relay going bad. Check to see where the sound is coming from. If it is the pump, check the fluid. If it is the relays, maybe one of them is going bad. That's what happened to mine.
