Bear.... The 1966 V/4 engines had but one coil. What is the model number of that engine?

Bear.... Coil closest to carb (front of engine) is the top cylinder coil. Other coils is obviously for the bottom cylinder.

Plug the coil into the related sprk plug wires so that the prong within the coil penetrates the center steel wire of the plug wire. The short wire that is above the metal coil yoke attaches to the right coil retaining screw (the right screw as you would be looking straight at the outside of the coil. The longer wire below the metal coil yoke attaches to the same screw on the points that the condenser is attached to ( the set of points that is to the right of the coil as you would again be looking at the outside of the coil.

NOTE..... Be sure to torque that flywheel to exactly 105 foot pounds, otherwise you will encounter a sheared flywheel key and damaged flywheel and crankshaft tapers.

If you're serious about working on that engine, I'd suggest (at the bottom of this page) that you obtain a service manual for it.

Hi bear
The short wire goes to ground. The long wire goes to the points along with the two kill wires from the engine, the condencer is also connected at this point. Don't forget to connect the spark plug leads, they go in the hole with the pin in it. bear, you really should have a manual for this work. From the sounds of things this motor probably has other needs as well. You know if you don,t want to or can't shell out the $35. for a manual, check one out at your public library. Anyway good luck and get your motor running.
