CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE STD. BORE SIZE OF A 1976 85HP V4<br />JOHNSON CROSSFLOW OUTBOARD

Hooty, according to my book prior to 1979 they were 3.375. Sounds awful small to me too. <br />Wiseco only lists pistons for the crossflows bak to 1979 too.

3.375 std bore is correct. Wiseco does have the pistons for this motor thru .040 oversize. The series part number is 3176 and fits 85 hp motors from 1974 to 78. They also have the 1973 pistons for 3.375 and 3.500 motors but they are different numbers.<br /><br />Your 1976 can be bored to 3.500 also. You would need to get cylinder heads from a 115/140 style V4 crossflow.<br /><br />Good luck!

Gatorman, wish I could inject some more knowledge, but I just jumped in to say I'm glad to see someone else who still has one of these seemingly unique V4's. Mine has been bulletproof, but it seems that parts are hit and miss sometimes as on-line sources seem to ship '73-'77 for some reason. If you find a good source, let me know.

Sho'nuf, I Was wrong. I knew the '76 V6 was 3.5" so I figgered....oh well. Glad ya'll got GATORMAN1 fixed up.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
