Havent run it for a while --the pistons are free and starter, but when i take it out of gear and try to turn the Flywheel by hand there is a complete stoppage
After working it back and forth with the plugs out it comes to a complete seizure but sometimes i can manage to turn it fully with great difficulty
Its out of gear so i dont suppopse it is the water pump? or is it I cant think of anything else

Hi wenham
This problem could bs caused by something in the lower unit. The drive shaft turns all the time reguardless of gear selection. Remove lower unit and let us know what you find.

Hello.
You can take the lower unit off and see if it turns. If that does not help, take off the cylinder head and check for scouring marks. If there are none, dump some oil in the cylinders and see if that loosens it up.
If that does not help, you have just about exhausted the easy fixes.
Good luck.

Hi wenham
Before you start tearing into the powerhead and you determine the problem is not in the L/U. Lets pull off the flywheel and have a look under there. See if anything is rubbing. Look the fly wheel over real close. Is it cracked? Check for end play on the crankshaft. You stated this condition occured after storage. Can we assume that all was fine when you put it away?

Hi wenham
No, if the water pump is causing the problem then it needs to come apart anyway. Yhe same thing goes for removing the lower unit, you would need to do thts anyway for routine maintaince. Also drain the gear oil and have a look at it. What dose the oil look like? Water in it? We need to determine the sourse of this binding. There are a number of things that may cause this binding, how about the rope starter? Mice been in there? Mud wasps? Grab a six-pac of Odouls,a six-pac of Bud and a manual. Read the book and drink the odouls while we work. when we're done we'll drink the Bud.

Filled the bores and with oil and water down the thermostate opening at the top and turned it by hand off and on for a few hours and took the plugs out and turnrd it a few times with the starter --that was yesterday -- fired it up this morning and with a huff and a puff she took off -- bit of smoke for a while -stalled and I think i have flooded it =-give it another run tomorrow-- by the way the semi seize has gone for now feels quite good PHEW :D :D ;)
