Re: 135 evinrude

We really need a little more info. You can put a witness mark on the prop and the hub, then try to run it and then check the witness mark and see if it moved. However, if your prop works in forward there is no reason for it to not work in reverse. There is much less load on it in reverse. I suspect shift cable out of adjustment or bad shift dog on the reverse side. Does it make any noise in reverse?

If no work has been done on the lower unit recently, it's probably shift linkage adjustment. Can you tell if the shift rod (under the lower carb) is moving when shifting is tried? (Prop needs to be rotated - engine NOT running).

Is it making clicking noises when shifted into reverse? If so, it suggests incorrect linkage adjustment. Linkage needs to be centered in neutral.

Let us know what's happening.

Just a couple more things to do till the snow melts. Disconnect the shift cable and shift to reverse by hand. (don't forget to turn the prop while shifting) Compare the shift lever postition to the position it's in with the shift cable attached and in reverse. If the shift cable looks to be "kinked" or bent at the casing guide, thats the plastic thing at the end of the cable, after shifting to reverse, replace the shift cable.
