Bummer. You may have to try some polishing compound and buff it out. I would highly recommend POLISHING compund first. Rubbing compound is much more coarse. Also, apply by hand gently.

Try bleach and a bit of elbow pressure.

Bob

Had the same challenge yesterday.Very simple.Take a sponge or cloth and put bleach on it and hold it on the stain for 1-2 minutes,if it is not gone rub a little and rinse thoroughly when done.I also had a little luck with Dow scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner. The bleach worked better on the red ones and the Dow worked good on the brown ones.Charlie

I would never have thunk it! That simple? Cool. I'll have to try that next time. Thanks for the easy fix! Beats the heck out of polishing!

Castrol SuperClean!!!!! I love this stuff. Has very bad water line on outside of my boat, rubbing compound would not take it off. SuperClean and a tire brush, took it right off, and restored the color to the paint, by removing all the oxidized paint. Wish I had a before and after pic to show you how good this stuff is. BEWARE, if you leave it on too long with out rinsing it off, it WILL eat up your paint.

excellent point, Nate.. I found out the hard way.. :(

Same goes with formula 88, purple power, purple stuff, and most of those other de-greasers..

There is a product called FSR (fiberglass stain remover) that's supposed to be "the stuff"... Dunno if it works?

Soft scrub with bleach is my favorite for stains... ;)

Re: leave stains

Did you want to leave the stains or were they leaf stains? ;)
Dollar Tree has a product called "Amazing" (or is it Astonishing, or Astounding?) that comes in various combinations...with bleach, grease-cutter, etc.
Works very well, I've been using it for two years, and it takes off almost all stains on my boat (won't take off the pink tint left by jet fuel...my marina's not far from an airport) and doesn't seem to harm the finish at all.

and the price?!!

Re: leave stains

Use a very damp rag, with a touch of soft scrub. I used the non-bleach version. Touch up with a bit of polish if it appears dull. May want to try this in a hidden area first, depending on the age and condition of your gelcoat.

Re: leave stains

Just to make sure I'm reading this right....the Castrol Super Clean will actually remove the stains as well as oxidation on the gel coat? My hazy white blue stripe will be true blue again? I assume you can get this stuff pretty much anywhere (Wally's, auto parts stores, etc)?
