Amplifier Update

ok Both Amplifiers are bad on both motors(1968 65 hp Evinrude Sport Fours) So I think I am dead in the water. I do not want to spend $300.00 and still not know if it will work??? I have another question but will put it in a new post. <br /><br />Thanks,

Sorry to hear that lyman. That's the catch with these models. Just for grins have you looked at modification I mentioned to you earlier? This may be an option. As I have said,I've never attempted this myself. But the next time I get the urge to play with this system I'm going to try it.

Alcan I am not sure where to begin in that modfication? Is it worth it? Can I buy I used one somewhere?<br /><br />????in Texas????

Lyman<br /> Use the search funtion on this board. Try batt cd ignit system conversion? I do know that there has been mass pages writen about this. As the Brits say "keep yer pecker up" don't throw the towel in just yet. Study up on this and see what you think. You might search posts by Schematic. This fellow is quite the whiz with electronic stuff. Remember that your looking for posts pertaining to this system not necessarly your perticular year/model. This same system was used on several 3and 4 cylender models of that era. I am sure that once you bone up on this and have some questions, one of the other guys that has done this will be around to help.
