motor bogs at 3/4 to full throttle

I have a 1990 70 hp Evinrude motor that bogs at 3/4 to full trottle. Feels like somebody hits the brakes. Moter will miss and sputter until you turn the key off wait two minutes and restart. Motor will be fine for about fifteen minutes and will do the same thing. Motor will run fine at half throttle all day long. Seems to act up more when pulling family on tubes. Anyone have any ideas to what causes this problem? Also seems to act up more on choppy water.

Hi, Mitch.<br /><br />When did you last replace your impeller?<br /><br />Another possibility is a hot failure in the ignition system. Try running her with the cover off or, better yet, put her on the muffs and heat the ignition parts with a hair dryer and see if you can reproduce the rpm drop from idle.<br /><br />Good luck.
