Re: help ! vro trouble !

Hi ya' fisherman.

Not a good idea to do that.

Does the warning tone sound with just the key on?

Normally, a continuous tone means that either the engine is overheating or your fuel flow is restriced to the VRO pump although your engine is not equiped with the switch for the restriced fuel flow. Takeing for granted that your engine is not overheating, give this a shot. Find the black amphenol connector that's on the wire harness that comes from the VRO pump. Remove the retainer and pull the plug apart. Start the engine and listen to see if the tone is present or not. If the tone is still present, find the tan wire coming from the heat sensor on the head. It will be a tan colored wire. Pull the rubber cover back to expose the knife connector and take it apart. Once again, start the engine and listen for the tone. If the tone is still present, your horn module in the control box is probably at fault. Hope this has helped and wecome to iboats forum.

Hi Fisherman

Good advice from OutboardJim

And I´d like to add: If I were you ( which I am not and will never be :) ) I´d put 1:50 oilmix in my tank till all this is solved and I had seen oil consumption is satisfactory again.

You shorted out your alarm itself. I've done the same thing. Its inside the control box. Just replace the alarm and it will be fine.
