When I am running my 3 cyl evinrude 70 hp, I am trying to clean the carbs out a little, and I am not sure what is supposed to be happening. When I spray short spurts of B12 into the carburetors on top and bottom, the engine keeps running, but a shot into the middle carb makes it sputter and die, which of these reactions is normal, is it just my middle carb that is clogged, or is the upper and lower carbs not working right???

Thanks for any advice and help!!

Re: 70hp evin carb trouble

Spraying carb cleaner into a running motor is a sure way to kill the motor. Carb cleaner removes oil from the bearings and cylinder walls just as easily as it removes it from the carburetor. Also, spraying carb cleaner into the carb throats results in a clean throat and that's about it. To properly clean a carburetor it MUST be disassembled and cleaned by hand, with care taken to make sure all passages and jets are clean...
- Scott
