My Johnson 48 tilt cylinder lost pressure over the winter. I'm assuming there's a certain amount of pressure in the unit to allow it to assist you effortlessly. How do you re-pressurize unit to assist in trim. Apparently i need to rebuild cylinder to keep it from leaking pressure again. Could anyone please verify procedures to get cylinder working again.

Thanks
Fearless fishing Jim

Hey killer,

Sorry to say that the assist cylinders are none repairable. If it craps out on ya', then a new one is needed.

Or.....just put some extra bucks into a Trim and Tilt unit. These can be repaired and are a lot more use than the assist cylinders.

Hi Killer
I assume your talking about the manual tilt assist? I also assume you you have a tiller model? It's hard to tell with out a model #. As far as I know you will have to replace the the assist unit. They can't be repaired. I have one also, it's a real pain.
