Enjoy this forum very much. Have a 1987 28 hp Evinrude with electric start. Would like to know in an emergency can the ignition switch and kill switch be by-passed with a "hot wire" directly from the +pole on the battery to start the engine.
Where would the wire be connected and once started would removing this wire shut her down.
Thanks for a reply

Molarman eh?

Well I've got this tooth see...

Welcome to iboats Molarman.
You can jump from the + side of the battery to the small + post on the starter solenoid and that will pull the solenoid in and should spin the starter or you can use a large wire (4-6awg) and go directly to the the big post on the starter. I'd use the small wire to the solenoid, myself.

c/6

Hooty

Re: Emergency bypass surgery

If I understand you right you are talking about an on off switch.Motor runs on an open circuit like a lawnmower the switch closes to ground to stop the motor.Starting is as hooty describes.
motor will run with harness unpluged and
choking will work as a temporary way to stop.
