98 johnson 150hp oceanrunner. when i trim it down from full up, about halfway down it starts shaking. once its down most of the way, it operates normal. coming up it doesn't do it. i checked the fluid at the beginning of the season, and it was full. any ideas? thanks-

ps. i'm in the water, so its stays in the full up position most of the time.

mattttt25- Not sure if its the same problem I have run into before but its worth the look.
Check the tilt tube thats where the steering conects. See if its worn out of round. I have found this on a couple of motors in the past, but usally on motors with lots of hrs or more that 15 years old!
steve

Matt,
You may have air in the system or fluid added is incompatable.Check fluid level again and trim up/down(3-5times) to remove air(if any).Always use OMC Power Trim/Tilt fluid or Dexron II automatic trans. fluid.Using a substitute will give bad results.Make sure all the grease fittings the motor tilts on are well greased(OMC Triple-Guard).This will prevent binding.Lube any non-greaseable pivot points with penetrating oil.
