Re: what year is my evinrude
Hey 4fun...welcome to the forum...

You have a 1980, 115hp.

The rectifier will be on the side of the engine block and will look like a short tin can settin on a triangular base. The pulse to your tach comes from the rectifier lead with the gray stripe. The tach may power up because the power to the tach cames from the ignition system but the pulse to make the tach read rpms comes from the rectifier lead. The rectifire can be checked with an ohms meter. If you have a mech or dealership in town, take the rectifier off and have them give it a look.
