8HP 1988(?) Evinrude to charge battery

[CATALINA 22]

Can someone please tell me how to hook up engine to deep cycle battery for a trickle down charge? According to the manual, there should be a red and black wire coming from the alternator and "some other place" but not on this motor. How can I find exactly where to connet these wires? <br /><br />Thanks for your help.
