I have a Johnson 40 model RKL26S. What year would this be and how difficult would it be to find parts? I need to rebuild the leg and am wondering if it would be worth the cost and effort to find parts particularily bearings.

Mornin' Gary,

You might be surprised by how may older JonnyRudes are still "up & runnin". They're good ol motors with pleanty of parts still available.

you might try your local omc(JonnyRude)/Bomb dealer for parts. They've probably got them. Else, take a look at your local Napa dealer. Yep! Napa. Just ask for their marine catalog (some Napa dealers don't know that they handle boat/motor parts).

Good Luck
HAVE FUN!

With the number off the bearing you can most definitely get the bearings cheaper at a bearing house. I bought mine thru a bearing house and it only cost me $22 to replace both bearings. Did the same thing for my generator and it only cost me $10 there for both. Dealer prices for the bearings was at least twice what I paid.
