1977 EVINRUDE 140 NO FIRE NEED TO KNOW PART?

HELLO CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I HAVE A 1977 EVINRUDE 140 I ALWAYS TOOK GREAT CARE OF IT AND THIS IS THE ONLY PROBLEM I EVER HAD OK HERE IS THE SCENARIO I WAS OUT FISHING ON THE WAY IN BOAT RAN TERRIBLE MAYBE 2 CYLINDERS OR SO GOT IN CHECKED ENGINE FOUND COOLING HOSE DRYROTTED SPRAYING WATER.REPLACED ALL IS FINE BUT STARTS HARDER.NEXT DAY STARTING REAL HARD FIRING HERE AND THERE THAN BAM!!! NO FIRE. CHECKED CONTOL BOX IGNITION ITS NOT THAT.UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I SEE THAT A WIRE HAS CORODED OFF I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THIS PART IS # OR NAME THAT IT IS A RECTANGULAR DEVISE WITH TWO WIRE WITH A SNAP CONECTOR ONTO 2 WIRES GOING TO A TERMINAL BLOCK. THIS PART IS MOUNTED ON A PIECE OF STEEL ONTO THE BLOCK WITH 2 BOLTS. FROM INSIDE THE BOAT LOOKING AT THE ENGINE ITS IN BETWEEN THE 2 CYLINDERS ON THE RIGHT LOWER RIGHT ABOUT 6 INCHES FROM THE POWER PAK PLEASE HELP

My suggestion is the same as you got from rolmops on your other post for a parts diagram - Get the manual for your motor. If you cannot for whatever reason go to a library and check in the Reference Section.<br /><br />Also please do not use all caps - it is called shouting.

wiring harness??? thats what they called it on my 75 115 omc

FYI, I had to replace the stator, coils, then the wiring harness before my problem was fixed. I had intermittent spark- mostly not.<br /><br />In retrospect I think that it was the harness.<br /><br />Runs great now. Finally
