I changed the flywheel on my 200hp johnson because the magnets were all together no spaces and some missing. Could this be a cause of no spark on some of the plugs or should I change the power pack and or the stator.

Re: Flywheel

You replaced the magents. Well try it and see if it runs good. I would tune it up and take out and try it if it ran. did it run before and you replaced he magents and if it don't run now than it will be the way you put the magents in. But i believe that it did't run before and you won't to see if this fixed the problem what you did. So try to start it. See if it wil run if not which is what your asking us I believe that you need to check out why your not getting a spark. Well I not right by your engine but there are cheaper things to check first instead of just replacing the power pack. Which is what you might be trying to ask. The Next Thing you might be trying to ask if I correct is what should I check first then. Well if you did the magents the right way. You need to take a plug out and ground it then turn the engine and see if you see a spark. If not then you could take the kill wire and disconnect it, then give it a try. That's what I would do because i don't won't to be doing a lot of work that I don't want to do and spending a lot of money without checking to make sure that the kill switch is shorted out somewhere. You might ask this next where is the kill wire to dissconnect well I not looking at your engine setup so I cannot tell you and I don't have manual to look at that will give me a clue to tell you. But I hope you will give some thought and let me know if I helped you.

Yep.
Missing magnets will certinally cause your engine not to run. I'd probably start with replacing it. If it still doesn't run, test the stator and powerpack(s).

c/6

Hooty

Re: Flywheel

I miss-read statement you said you replaced your flywheel because you thought the magents were bad. Ok But you can still read my reply and it could still help you. Since you replaced the bad flywheel and you got the good one in that should have fixed one problem or the problem. But it is possible you could have another problem with the spark system. So that is where we are now.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted you can learn from us.
Ps: I really don't think that changing the starter will do anything to fix this problem. Some cases they will say you need a new battery or the starter might turning to slow. In some cases they will say you need a battery with a certain volts or amps in it for your system.
Then again I just trying to give you some helpfull advice is all and telling you what I think is some instances of my posting. But then again we getting a starter problem mixed up with a bad spark problem. Whis could be seen as stupid.
