HELP! TILT MOTOR PROBLEMS

Ok, trying not to sound like an idiot here, how do you tild down a 1979 Evinrude motor? We have the manual and it doesn't say!<br /><br />It is hooked up to the battery, does the engine have to be running and if so, doesn't water have to be pumping through the engine.<br /><br />Katie

hi katie,im certain my 1981 erude 140 is just like yours.there should be a switch on the throtle abutton makes it go up & down.no it doesnt have to be running.did you find the button?

There is also a manual block that will hold it up unless realesed by hand. Tilt motor all the way up and look on the port side for a lever that you can flip down.
