Year of 90 hp Johnson VRO

I hate to do this as my first post,but I think I bought a boat with a misrepresented motor[year wise] Its supposed to be a 96.. Serial # G4064825 I got that off the little silver plug on the engine. Its the only number I could find... any help ?? bob

Look to see if you can find a model number .It will have several letters with numbers.The two letters before the last in the model number indicate the year model.<br /><br />ET 1993<br />ER 1994<br />EO 1995<br />ED 1996<br />EU 1997<br /><br />Example: 1996 model number may look like J90TLEDA<br />"ED" being a 1996

hello bulletbob and ob,<br /><br />hope you don't mind if i jump in here with another question regarding johnson model numbers. i am trying to price my 1996-90hp johnson and can not seem to locate my specific model number on any of the value guide web sites i have found (like nada.com). it just so happens that the model number i am having problems find is the number ob quoted in his example J90TLEDA. (infact this is how i found this message board)<br /><br />would either of you know why i can not find this particular model number? the 96 models i find are "J90ELED and J90SLED".<br /><br />any comments would be appreciated.
