When not wasting my time destroying the 1967 60 HP Evinrude that's been wasting a lot of space on this board lately, I've revived a couple of dead motors including the Mc Culloch.

From what I can gather from a 1970 ABOS multi-make service manual the little pipe on the exhaust cover that is connected to the second water pump is a bilge pump connection, but I can't find any more info about it.

Anyone know if there was some sort of pump or filter or other connection at the end away from the motor or or did it just run a hose direct into the bilge or wherever and suck water up?

the guy that sold me my McCulloch (original power for the first Hydrophobia, the 14 Nichols) said that you ran a tube down to a strainer pick up device, it would always have suction ... I never used it, figured my sandy bait strewn bilge was best scooped out with a clorox bottle, lol, and I always washed her out with palmolive (relax, yer soaking in it)

Great little motor, electric start, quiet, reliable, heavy little thing tho, and apparently I wasnt the first to use this fresh water intentioned motor in salt water, every bolt snapped off when I went to replace the head gasket, after day after day of soaking in Liquid Wrench and then diesel ...

the gamefisher that I popped on the back for 75 bucks ran for a few thousand hours before dropping dead, lol, I figured let her rest, did way more than the designers ever envisioned

I have a 7.5hp Mc Culloch which would be about your year. It hadnt gone for 8 years but went second pull when I gassed it up and primed (couldnt believe it) Mine has a short pipe on the main body just under the carb. where a hose and bilge filter is fitted. The pee hole works ok. but the water impellar must need replacing after all these years but wouldnt think that parts and gaskets would be available now. Would you know ? Other than that it is a sweet sounding twin.
