Hi Beach
Which controls do you have now? What do you want to end up with. Describe your gear and set-up a little better. You want to clean things up a bit, What does that mean? Are you forties elect. shift? There were and are many different styles and types of controls.

They are not electric shift. I have a seperate control for each motor throttle and shift. I want to find a dual control box containing 2 throttle and 2 shift all in one box.
Thanks

Re: Dual controls for johnson

Hi Beach
Well I guess the description I was looking for would be, I have Evinrude Simplex or Johnson shipmaster controlls. These are basicly the same control. They are very versitile, you can rig them for port or starboard opperation. You can also rig them for a duel installation. I can't seem to find my pictures and info on this right now. But if this is indeed the controls you have, it's just a matter of taking them apart and assembling them in the configuration that suits you. You may need extra long screws to mount the box when finished. This is going to be a little puzzle for you. Basicly it's a sandwich making deal. If you notice the cables can come out either end of the box. You will have to flip flop the panels to get clearnce for the bend in the levers. Just play with it for a while you'll figure it out.

Re: Dual controls for johnson

I am doing almost exactly the same thing with a wierd amalgamation of outboards that look like twins, 59 Sea Horse 35 and a 66 Super Sea Horse 40 ... the powerhead on the 40 looks very clean, no ridge in the cylinders, just some carbon - Might just hone it out and put some rings in her, just dont know how the single tube water pump in the 35 will do with the twin tube 40 ... also, I dont have control boxes for the starter equipped motors, but I figure some ford solenoids from a junkyard could be mounted in a box of some sort and be made to work. have to find the hone, find the other tools I have kicking around

already working on the garage, found a steel editors desk to mount a vice into, since my old workshop got buried, Ill just make a new one here, no prob, lol, also reupholstering a shop stool to work in comfort

Coming along, just waiting on the books, and hounding eBay for throttles ....
