exhaust gaskets on 9.5 johnson

whats the trick to changing exhaust gaskets<br />on a johnson 9.5? the flywheel is off and there's not much room below that at the front of the engine..easier if the whole powerhead was out<br />but do i have to go that far??dave

What is it you are trying to change? You mentioned exhaust gaskets but then talk about the front of the motor.<br /><br />What does the motor do or not do? If it wont idle with the hood on that may not be a gasket issue.<br /><br />Good luck!

i see that you started another post.u need to split the case to change the gasket.its a total disasemble its not an easy 10 min job that for sure.if you dont have a manual now is a good time to get 1.as for the spring in your other post it goes to the rich lean line it just keeps it out of the way and stops it from flopping around.

yes i guess i better get a manual,and your right<br />splitting the case is a bit of work .ok so where exactly is the exhaust gaskets on this 9.5?

its the rubber donut that you see all the way down in the case it stops the exhust from comming up the case into the cowling. look on ebay for a factory manual for your engine there are on there cheap
