1988? 60hp Evinrude w/ VRO HELP!

ob ! anybody! They "Re-vamped" the Forum and Deleted our Postings!!! So, lets begin from here. Model: E 60 TLCCR, It's been sitting in a garage for 5 years, no seasonal service. New sparks, filter, lubrication, Carbs cleaned (twice). It's running, the Whaler is in the water, I can get 5.3 MPH out of the motor as I SLOWLY advance the throttle. When I continue to advance the throttle, attempting to speed-up, the engine will suddenly stall. I return it to Neutral and it re-starts immediately. I again go through the same process and it stalls. I ran the Engine for about 30 minutes at 5 MPH or so, no change in operation. I checked the likage, carb flaps, NO mixture adjustment on Carbs, Spark on all cylinders. What's next? What am I missing? Tempted to go back to fixing Jeeps!

Hi cap....let's start with a question. When the carbs were cleaned, were the jets pulled out and cleaned individually? Sounds like a gas starvation problem. Do you have a manual? OEM or otherwise?

OBJ, Yes, I cleaned the jets. The only real problem was in the pick-up tubes, total varnish. I have an OEM manual

Have you taken compression test? Is the engine overheating? Setting for so long, the impeller may not be able to produce the volume of water needed for cooling. Is the alarm horn still working?

No, on the Compression Test. Waterpump is working fine, engine stays cool VRO alarm was checked and ok.
