Charging System Or Not

I have a 1981 35 hp longshaft johnson ob. It appears to be able to accept a starter; has teeth on flywheel. My question is, how do I know if it is a type that will recharge a battery? The mod # is J35RLC1G.

According to your model# it is a rope start and the code for electric is not there.You would probably have to install a powerpack in order to have it charge a battery.I don't think this model comes with starter bracket.

Probably not a paying deal to add a starter, since you need a charging system, starter solenoid, the starter, wiring harness, etc. It gets very expensive!

Thnks guys. This motor rope starts real easy, guess I will just stick with that.
