impellers

I just bought my boat and it had been sitting since 1995. Well after replacing the stater and rectificer. I took it to the lake and it ran fine.Should i replace the impeller befor going again.The motor is a 1974 Johnson. One more question are those sppedometers correct on boats. At full throttle it read only 35mph.the boat is 15ft, tri hull.

If your speedo is the pitot tube style ,they are accurate within 2 or 3 mph when mounted and working properly.Insure the tube orifice and lines are clear.<br /><br />1974 Johnson what?

Sitting for 8 years?<br /><br />I wouldn't put-off an impeller change.
