My motor was stored several years and gas badly gummed up the carburetor as might be expected.Took it apart and cleaned out the crud. When reassembling carb noticed inlet valve isn't fastened to the float. How should the inlet valve be attached to the float?A spring? A little keeper? Was I too zealous in cleaning out the crud, might I have disposed of a little part?
If I could get ahold of an exploded diagram of the carburetor it would really be helpful.Maybe someone has a manual with the proper carb diagram and could reply to this request and I could send him my email address. Please help if you can.

Hi, Terry.

As you have probably already seen, there is no spring or other attachment between the float and the needle in the carbs used on the JW series.

You are okay.

You need a Manual if you plan on working on that engine.

http://www.outboardrepairs.com/manuals/

Good luck. :)

Welcome to iboats!
$395 --not such a great deal unless it's perfect, and has supporting maintenance records to prove it. I won't give more than $150 unless they are exceptional, and I can hear it run and they have receipts for at least new ignition parts.
That said, I have two of them and love them.
And you were also bringing up a nearly 6 year old thread, so they probably won't answer you.... :)

Please don't hijack old threads. You will get much better response if you start your own.
