Steam coming out of tell tale

Hi,<br />A friend just gave me his 20hp Envirude and he told me that when he first starts it water comes out but turns into steam. Any ideas what it could be? Thermostat, new water pump...<br /><br />Also any idea of the year;<br />Model: 209cr02r<br />serial: 07041271<br /><br />Thanks for your replies.

It is possible that the waterpump is giving problems. Also check the compression...its also possible that the head gasket is blown.<br /><br />I doubt it's the thermostat.<br /><br />TMD
