I bought a '69 Evinrude 6hp motor today, and when trying it out, I completely pulled the cord out. No rip, I think the knot came out.

When attempting to reistall, I noticed the spool doesn't feed the cord back in after a yank (lack of spring). It worked perfectly minutes earlier.

Does anyone know the proper steps for rewinding the cord? Thanks

Sometimes when the cord breaks...so does the spring as it snaps back. Does it have any life at all?

TMD
