carb. reeds

i have a 1988 110 johnson model#110TLCCA and would like to know if it has reeds.engine has a sneeze every so often at idle.neighbor says its the reed valves.i think its just little dirt in carb. that may have slipped past fuel filter.boat runs great other than that.thanks for any help and advice.

sounds like a lean sneeze, not unuf (enough) gas at idle. If its 2 cycle it has reads. I would clean and adjust the carb/s<br />Richard

A "sneeze" at idle is caused by too much air entering the motor. It may be a throttle plate slightly open or a dirty carb not allowing enough fuel in. <br /><br />Its not unusual to rejet the idle circuit on older crossflows. Clean the carbs and install factory kits. If that and the snyc-n-link doesnt fix the sneeze you may want to richen up the idle circuit a tad.<br /><br />Your carbs were calibrated for the available fuel in 1988. We dont have that fuel anymore.<br /><br />Good luck!
