Gentlemen I know some of you will not like this, but what are some of the tricks to exact premix? Has anyone used a turkey baster or large syringe. Also there is the issue of getting all of the measurement into the tank Tricks ?
I am kind of annal about this stuff.

I like to use a 1 L (1 quart to you!) oil bottle where I've cut a hole on the "shoulder" of the bottle (leaving the neck & original opening intact). Normally I buy my oil by the gallon, so when I want mix up some gas, I can pour from the gallon into the bottle I've cut, without a funnel and without spilling. Using the gradations on the 1 L bottle I can tell how many mL (or Oz) of oil you've got. Then pour from the 1 L bottle into the gas can (through the original neck and hole... acts as a funnel)

The other thing I do is always mix my gas in 5 gal plastic gerry can. I make sure when I fill it that it really has 5 gallons in it (sometimes they balloon and may take more than 5 to fill). And add the appropriate oil amount to fill. I always give a bit more oil than too little (I mix about 45:1). I'll put up with a bit of smoke for a bit more oil on the moving parts. Using a separate can lets you mix it well before putting in the onboard tank. Also even if you have a portable tank, it's easier to mix up 5 gal and top up the portable, than try to add the proper oil and gas to a tank that already has some 1/3? or 1/2? of gas in it.

Anyway, that's what I do.

Brent

If you know the capacity of your fuel tank then add oil first and fuel second untill full( 1gal oil+ 50gal fuel) you have now insured your tank is starting at 50:1.I rarley run with completly full tank (110gal)unless needed, it is wieght I dont need to carry.I take the measuring thing out of the picture by adding 2 qt oil then 25 gal fuel or 4qt then 50 gal and just stop the pump when I need to..Both the qt container and the fuel pumps are very acurate and the fuel agitates the oil into good dilution..Its not rocket science and just remember to err on the high side..50:1...48:1..its all good
