all the wires going to motor are in pretty bad shape insulation falling off of them and some bare wire showing. sometimes get spark but sometimes don't was wondering if the wiring would have something to do with it? Also when i changed the lower gear oil there was water in the oil and the boat won't go in neutral or reverse i was wondering if the water is what might cause that?
thank you

Hi Nathien....

If the wiring is that bad, then that's probably the cause of the "no spark" problem. Best thing to do is repair the wiring as best ya' can or get a new harnes for the engine. Rapair makes them. Pricey but so is a new engine.

The water in the lower unit is not a good thing. It will keep the gear case from shifting. Sounds like you have several issues to think about here. If you decide to repair the engine, get a manual as a guide. Iboats carries the generics, Clymers and Sylocs. Ken Cook Co. can get you a reprint of the original service manual. OEM manuals are the preferred service manual. Lot more specific info.

If you need any more info, I know I probably haven't given ya' much, please let us know. Thanks.
