it is a long knob (plastic) with a lock nut (plastic) and it is located under the flywheel to the side and it goes conected to a bracket who moves open the carburators .

The all plastic knob assembly sets the synchronization between the amount of spark advance and the throttle opening. There is a procedure in the service manual about it. If I remember correctly, with the motor in gear on the water and the rpm exactly at 900, you set the knob to just start the timer base advance movement.

On later motors, there was a stainless steel screw and locknut sticking out that advanced or retarded the timer base to set the idle rpm.

Wolf - In order to get any meaningful help here you at least have to tell us what motor you have. What you are referring to, I think, is the timing adjustment. It is usually done in conjunction with setting and adjusting the carbs - called sync & link. Both are best done by using the shop manual for your motor.
