I have a 1956 Evinrude Fisherman 5.5hp and a big heavy 6gal pressure tank which works fine. Would like to either l. convert to fuel pump or 2. Make a small pressure tank. I have successfully made a pressure tank out of a garden pesticide sprayer which works great as long as you pump it up every 3 or 4 minutes. Could I put a fitting on it and run the AIR line from the engine to it to keep it pressurized or does the engine put out too much pressure and would it overload the tank? How could I rig a pressure relief valve to keep this from happening? Re fuel pump conversion, Is it possible to use the AIR fitting from the engine to operate a fuel pump and not have to drill a hole in the crankcase? Would appreciate any advice .

my 1957 was converted to a fuel pump set-up and it uses vacuum to run the pump off one of the cylinders covers. Just need the fitting. You can also find used 4 gallon pressure tanks on E-Bay.

You should be fine wuith a pressure line to the tank.

Find the correct type motor fitting and even make it two line quick disconnect.
