Evinrunde 225HP, 1994 (model E225TXARK).<br /><br />While visually inspecting the recent installation of a new VRO, I found that there is an electric cable broken, coming out from a sensor that is located just below the VRO, to the right (the sensor enters the engine block I think). I don't know what is the function of that sensor. Help !!!!!!! I asked the mechanic to take a look at it but I would like to have some advice here before talking to him again.

Do you have access to a digital camera to post a picture of what you are refering to?<br /><br />TMD

I'm thinking vacuum switch ,but a picture or specific description of where it is located and attached would be very helpful.

Re: I found a broken cable !!!

Unfortunately hadnt had the chance to take the pic, but talked today to the mechanic and he said me it is a "fuel restriction" sensor.... does that make any sense??? I am wondering how a sensor that seems to enter the block (well, I'm not totally sure) is a fuel restriction sensor?

Re: I found a broken cable !!!

there is a vaccum sensitive switch that activates a warning horn if it senses a restriction in the fuel supply.<br />but that is usually attached to the vro bracket.<br />it could be a ground wire that goes to one of the mounting bolts, and just looks like it goes into the motor??<br />anyway just trying tp help.

Re: I found a broken cable !!!

Sorry for the long delay. I have been busy as hell and just today I used the boat (went fishing alone, near a small island in front of the city of Puerto La Cruz).<br /><br />Finally took the picture of the broken cable coming from a sensor below the VRO. Please take a look at the picture (my finger is pointing the broken cable, the sensor is almost on the center of the picture).<br /><br />Any advice will be appreciated as usual. I would like to solve that.<br /><br />This is the link to the pic:<br /> http://home2.ni konnet.com/servlet/com.arcsoft.LoginNew?com=arcsoftBanner&awp=index3.html&DIRECT=&USERNAME=kesh&PASSWORD=nikoneditor_-1453138472&WHO=memberguest<br /><br />Please enter the album called tai-tai and move to the second picture... sorry for the complications

Kesh, when I click on the picture I see a picture of a boat, not of what you are describing.

Kesh...I found the picture but am having some difficulty in determining which wire is broke. Is it the tan colored wire that kinda loops in front of the hoses?

Re: I found a broken cable !!!

hello<br /> Kesh<br /> that is the tan sensor lead from the fuel system vacum alarm switch. it used to have a ring terminal on the end of it.<br /> it looped back to the monting bracket and was held together with a self tapping screw. the screw head has a slot for a standard and a 1/4" hex head some had 5/16th heads. follow the tan lead just below the pump and see if it leads to a pair of ring terminals and on terminal is missing a wire. if not tie it in with the low oil tank tan wire. be a nicer set up if you find the broken ring terminal and replace it.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Re: I found a broken cable !!!

sorry if the picture was not clear....I thought it was... Yes, it is the tan colored wire that loops in front of the hoses of the vro. At my first inspection I couldnt see where the cable belongs. I will try to find the ring terminal if there is one... will keep you informed....<br /><br />How can I test if the sensor itself is ok ???

Re: I found a broken cable !!!

The switch is a vacuum switch and warns of a restricted or no fuel supply. The tone you would get is a steady tone like the overheat tone. If you want to test it, just remove the hose to the switch and apply some vacuum to it. You can do it by mouth as it dosen't take much to acctivate the switch.

hummm..... don't remember seeing any hose to the switch.... I need to go again and inspect...<br /><br />I remember the switch has 2 cables....one black, that seems to be grounded to the engine, and the tan colored one.... but I don't remember any hose...

Re: I found a broken cable !!!

Should be a nipple on the side of the switch Kesh. The small hose runs to the fuel supply line to the pump. Maybe someone before you disconnected it???
