hello
I am confused on your post. are you saying the throttle wont move or that it will return to idle but not shift out of gear ?

Re: strange throttle cable problem

If it won't shift to neutral while the motor is running, then the shift interupter switch is not activating. It cuts out cylinders to momentarily run rough and "unload" the clutch dog lugs from the forward or reverse gear. The manual shows how to check and replace the switch.

Re: strange throttle cable problem

My 99 130 did the same thing. It would not go back to neutral once the rpm's came up. What I found was the throttle was not closing the carbs enough to bring the RPM'S low enough to shift back to neutral.
The engine would not go into neutral if the RPM's were over 1500....

Re: strange throttle cable problem

No all the cables were new. On the top of the engine I had to adjust the set screw. On mine there was a plastic piece that connected both carbs. When it was in neutral I backed out the screw made shure the butterfly's were closed and then put it back tight. I have not had a problem since. It did take a few times to figure out what to adjust and I tried everything from adjusting the cable to changing screw positions. It was getting agravating to say the least.

James
Pictures of the boat are on the link at the bottom of the page. 2 years worth
