I am putting orings on a 150 1995 60 degree evinrude. I have coated the orings with triple guard grease. Is there anything else that needs to be done before the heads go back on. It look like there was some rubber residue on the head. Thanks

No, These heads look like they are sealed. I am use to old ones with the big gasket. This new stuff is 6 orings. Can you seperate the water jacket from the head on these models. There are no screw that hold the water jacket onto the head?

You must not be using a service manual, shame on you.

Be sure to clean out all the "rubber" residue from the holes in the closed deck of the cylinders. You will need to run a small bead of RTV around each of the holes before installing the heads, and let it cure 24 hrs. before running the motor. Be sure you have the correct manual for your motor as there are 2 types of headbolts and the torques are different.

I have a shop manual but it does not cover anything on the heads. What type of rtv do you put around the holes. This engine has rtv in the holes. So do you fill the holes or put it just around them.? What are the holes for? Sorry about the questions but I have alway had and worked on 70's and 80's omcs.

Your engine should have standard hex head screws to hold the head onto the block. Torque remains at 20-22 ft. lbs. Late production of 99 models and later models may have a different screw, this screw can be identified by the washer style hex head screw(washer is part of screw), torque is 14-16 ft. lbs. Do not mix the screws on same head, some engines may have one type screw on one cylinder head, and the other type on the other head. See service bulletin 2350 dated Sept 1999 at your dealer.
