Re: Bad timer base..How common
Here's the complete story. I got this 1986 70Hp in for no fire. After checking wiring and kill circuit I found stator had no output. I pulled flywheel and found a lot of rust around top seal. Owner then told me he left it out without a cover for a couple of months. I clean it up and replaced stator and still no fire. Next I found bad readings from timer base. This morning just as a double check I installed a timer base from a V6 and wa-la, plenty of fire. Now I just have to find a timer base that doesn't cost more than the motor is worth (ha-ha).
