Evinrude water pump

I have a problem with my 6 hp Evinrude. The model number is 6904e. I know i have to replace the water pump but where the impellor is inside the shaft it will not come away from the shaft. i have removed the bolts and screws that seem to be associated with it and it then drops a couple of inches but wiull not fully come away from the shaft. Need help please!!!!

Did you unhook the gear shift shaft?

put it in reverse and look inside between the cases and should see shift lever will see bolt need to loosen it up btw putting it in reverse will lower the unit just a little more

Hello<br /> follow all of the above and when all is clear of the shift linkage and water tube then rotate the prop and watch the driveshaft rotate. the lower crank seal is held in place by a pin through the upper part of the drive shat. the pin will only clear the housing in one position. if you shear the pin you must replace it. I always replace it anyway as I usually remove it when I take the impeller off.<br /> Good luck and keep posting
