Re: need more power..

Hard to answer without knowing exactly what your set-up is...length of boat, for one. First thing you might try is making sure the boats hull is very clean, and free of any growth or parasitic type drag. If it's good and clean, ya got a good test bed.
Do you know your wide open throttle RPM as it is now?
Position of engine as far as trim goes? Hydro trim/tilt?
If you can answer most of these, we can get a base line of what you have and which direction to go......... :)

Re: need more power..

First verify that the engine is operating properly.
Then look at the set up of the boat and motor, the trim setting, the motor height, etc.

The engine should be able to reach 5500 rpm when at full throttle. So we need to know what rpm you are able to achieve.

Check for spark on all cylinders.
Check the compression on all cylinders.

Sorry, I don't know what a Sandollar is, who made it, how long it is, or how much it weighs. Neither the USCG or the NADA site have any info on it.

Re: need more power..

Dan - Without rpm at WOT we can't be of much help and a picture does not tell us what the motor is or is not doing. Generally if you need more power the only real solution is to buy a bigger motor. A 55 on a 18' boat is not going to be a speed demon no matter what you do to it.
