Leak from prop

I have a 1970 johnson 115 hp and it is leaking some kind of oil from the prop, it just all the sudden started. IT's very black and thick. Can someone lead me in the right direction of what it might be? <br />I used some sea foam prior to this happened and ran the motor for about 2 min. with a muff.

Sounds like accumulated two cycle oil sludge ,likely dislodged from your recent seafoam treatment.That engine is a good candidate for a decarbonizing.You can do a search on these forums for decarb precedures.<br /><br />Also to be on the safe side,you should remove the lower unit drain plug and inspect the condition of the lube.Check for signs of milky color(water intrusion) or excessive black color(in need of changing).

Sounds like unburned oil, and fuel, plus the crud the sea foam knocked loose.

Could 2 min. really loosen that much crud? It does not drip anymore it only did it over one night. Although it was not much about 3 tablespoons. Should I spend the 80 dollars for someone just to tell me it was grime and dirt. I hear gear oil is a white milky substance when it drips.
