so, i posted a problem with no fire, got that fixed it was the power pack. Thoughr everything was good to go now. took it out on the water today and 10 mins. out it over heated. got back home and pulled the thermostat (not a good sight) started it up again (ya it did start) ran it for a couple of mins. just for kicks pulled the thermostat housing and there had not been a drop of water through the housing. i just replaced the impeller last week any ideas on the problem?

When you replaced the impeller, were you able to account for all of the old impeller?... If not, it's possible that some of the old impeller got stuck in the pipe..

I say drop the lower unit and make sure the pipe lined up correctly with the pump housing.. Otherwize, I'd look to the pump for the problem..

BD....did you run the motor after the impeller replacement or did this happen after the power pack replacement? It's possible ya' missed the impeller key. Maybe slipped out when ya' installed it. Don't give up girl. You can fix it. Has to be something simple. (anyway's...that's the way I think) :D

Are the impeller blades pointing in the direction of the driveshaft rotation? i.e. turn driveshaft clockwise while installing waterpump housing.

the key had slipped out, resulted in damaging the head gasket so now i'm replacing that.

I noticed that you pulled the thermo stat and replaced it on your engine. I have a later model engine and am wondering whether it was particularly hard to remove the cylinder cover to replace the termo and whether you needed any special tools ?
