I have a Evinrude 7.5 Fleetwin Quadsonic from the 50's the model # is 7516-20353 I would like to know the year and how to change the water pump impeller. I would also like to know if a manual is available for this model and year.

Re: 7.5 Fleetwin

Model# 7516
1954 Evinrude 2 cylinder
HP: 7.5
WOT RPMS: 4000
Displacement 12.4CID
Weight: 49 lbs
Plugs: Champion J6C
Fuel Oil mix: 24:1 TCW-III oil (and stick with it, this is a babbitt bearing only engine)

To remove the lower unit to accesss the water pump on this engine, the shift mechanism must be disconnected. The only attachment point is at the shift lever pivot, which is underneath the powerhead. So you must remove the powerhead to service the water pump's impeller. It's not a difficult task, but you will need a new powerhead base gasket. A manual would be very valuable to you. You can order an aftermarket one here from Iboats, or you can get an OEM (OMC) reprint from kencook.com, and somtimes EBay.
Parts can be had from a Johnson/Evinrude dealer. Napa autoparts and various online places carry some aftermarket parts for this engine.

Good luck!

Ahoy, 7.5Rude.

Paul's instructions are quite clear to someone who has done it.

Few professional wrenches will tackle an unfamiliar task without a manual. I suggest you get one.

http://www.boatmotors.com/manuals.html

Good luck. :)
