Sea-drive crankshaft

I have a 1985 model sea-drive 1,6L which needs a new/used crank. I can't find any partno on the crank. Since the powerhead is basically a crossflow powerhead, from what models of the V4 motors can I get a crank that fits?

Welcome aboard the board. <br /><br />Any V4 crossflow crank from 1979 on will work. If you find a late model crank that has the O ring in the bottom of the crank (not on the driveshaft) you will need the lower seal plate from that motor.<br /><br />If you look at powerheads and are not sure of the year, look at the lower pan mounts on the front half. In 1979, and newer, the pan mounts are cast as part of the front half of the block assembly. 1978 and older mounts were bolted on. Those cranks have a smaller center main journal.<br /><br />Good luck!

Trond.... Examine the top of the crankshaft, that is the taper. There will be a circular design which will have the OMC part number.<br /><br />I found two numbers that relate to the crankshaft, one being a bare crankshaft, the other including the seal rings. Those numbers are 396623 and 396255.<br /><br />FYI, that crankshaft lists for approximately $1200 new. Curious as to what you were willing to pay for it?

Trond: Of the two numbers Joe Reeves mentions, 396255 is the bare crankshaft. Surely the price of $1200 got your attention! There are other options though. You can get good looking used ones or reground or rebuilts. We can regrind much of the crank with new bearings for much lower cost than new. How much is wrong with yours?<br />NEECAPRS
