Does a 10hp tillerarm fit a 18 hp??

I need a tillerarm for my Johnson 18 hp 1963 ( FD-17m). Does a 10 hp arm fit( QD-20/QD-22)??

One thing I can think of that may be different would be the engaging cogs, or gears where the handle pivots. They used two styles. It may be easier, and cheaper to find the correct handle from a salvage dealer, or E-Bay. You could probabley buy the whole handle assembly for what the gear, and shaft would cost alone if you tried to change things around.

The ball gear style was used from the mid/late1950s onwards. The pointed gear style was only used on the earliest years to about 1955. Yes, a QD20/QD22 tiller handle will work on your motor...<br />- Scott
