First off, thanks for all of the help over the past couple of years!

I have a 1992 Johnson 40 with two carbs. On the top of each carb, near the back, there is a 90 degree brass fitting with a tube that connects each fitting/carb. Well, the bottom fitting is bent at the seam and broken. I have been having a problem when running the boat. She idles fne, but when powered up with load, she bogs down. A complete loss of power. I have checked fuel pump and spark and all checks out fine.

My 2 questions are this; Would this fitting cause the engine to bog down and if so where can I get a part like this?

Alright, 1 more question. What is this part and what does it do? Thanks for all of your help!

hello
without a picture I am going to guess this is the primer nipple. the hoses go back to a solinoid with a red plastic lever. last I looked this part was not sold seperatly. I have some on some junk carbs. I throw nothing away :) :) . well almost nothing. ask the ex :) . anyway some one in your area should have some junk carbs. this nipple was also used on some crossflow v4 blocks and can be knocked out with a pin punch. use gel-seal when reinstalling.
good luck and keep posting

Thanks rodbolt! The red lever on the solidnoid is the fogging valve, I believe? I wish I had access to a digital camera right now to take a picture, but I don't. Let's see if I can describe it a little better.

The fitting comes right out of the top of the carb. One part of the 90 fitting goes straight down into the carb and the other part of the 90 takes a 90 out of the carb. A hose then connects to this with a zip tie and bends to the bottom carb with the same kind of fitting. Now, there is a smaller haose on the top of each carb that is right behind the 90 fitting at the very back of the carb. This is not the one!

I will try and get a picture of this piece, but it may take a while. I spoke to the parts store near me and we looked all over the micro-film and determined that it is not a peice that can be ordered and we could not find it on the film. He suggested that I go to a carb rebuilder and see if they had something similar. Also, I will try a mechanic that specializes in rebuilding Johnsons to see if he has any extra.

I appreciate your help and please let me know if I gave you a better idea of what this fitting does or what to do about finding one. Does anyone know of a good online carb used parts or johnson part dealer? Thanks.

This site makes it fun for the average Joe! :)

Alright, I found what looks to be the fuel primer hose fitting. I am guessing, and as rodbolt said, this is not a part that can be found very easily.

Does anyone have any input on where I could find this little "Minlon(nonmetalic)" Fitting. It looks like brass. Thanks all!
