Yo, 1eye,
Welcome ta iboats. I read that model nr. to be a 1993 model. If your dealer sez no parts available, I'd get a second opinion.

c/6
Hooty

HI 1eyeopen

I dont know at you, but here parts for a 1993 are available everywhere at authorised dealerships.

Do check to see if your manual release screw on port side of motor bracket is tightened properly. Otherwise you wil get exactly what you got. The mnaual states a turque value I think ist 6-7. The screw turns with a portion af resistance, even before it reaches the seat and you can easily stop too early.

Re: tilt/trim motor leak

Sometimes a minute piece of debris holds a check valve open. Loosen up the trim release valve and cycle the trim motor both up and down for a few seconds each way. Lift the motor up manually and push it back down. Now tighten the valve and try the unit again. If it's debris, it should work OK now, if not, then it will have to be serviced.

There are 2 types of trim units. The original style is mounted with 3 bolts on either side of the stern brackets, and parts are individually available. The "Fastrak" style is only held inside the stern brackets with a 1" diameter pin with snap-rings on each end. That unit has to be repaired by replacing the valve and pump assembly as a single piece, then cleaning out the whole system.

Hooty:
Thanks for the year, I wasn't sure.

G dane: I checked the release screw, all seems well.

Seahorse: No debris. Is there a manual that gives instructions on how to replace worn or damaged parts? How hard is the operation? I build Chevy engines for a living, know all about them, but outboards happen to be something different.

Takns again!

Order the factory service manual from a dealer. It gives complete troubleshooting and repair instructions.
