I just replaced my throttle and shift cable, and now I have no throttle in reverse. I believe the problem is in the Single binical control. But I haven't figured out what I did wrong. Can anyone help me with this?

Re: OMC SINGLE BINACLE CONTROL Problem

Check out the linkage at the motor and see if it moves into reverse when you put the throttle into reverse. If not, you will have to get back into the control unit and see what is wrong. You may not have seated the cable correctly in the control unit.

Re: OMC SINGLE BINACLE CONTROL Problem

The Linkage looks good at the motor, I removed the cover on the Controls and watched as I moved it into forward and it shifts into forward and stops and then the throttle cable moves but when in reverse it shifts to reverse but the throttle will not engage. Is there a trick to installing the cables? Should it be in Forward- Neutral - or reverse when installing?

Re: OMC SINGLE BINACLE CONTROL Problem

Normally, it is installed in neutral. Without seeing the control, it's hard too determine what is wrong. You obviously have it in the right place, or it would not go into forward. Is there a retaining clip or small plate that may hold the cable sheathing in place that is loose? Also, make sure someone is turning the prop by hand when you shift into reverse, as this will cause it to lock up at the control. That may very well be the problem...

Re: OMC SINGLE BINACLE CONTROL Problem

Thanks Rick for your advice. I think I'm going to disconnect the cables and start over. I'll check the single binical control shifting with out the cable attached. Maybe that will give me a clue to my problem.
